Working Out Regularly
Sunday, August 20, 2006 This was the first day in over two weeks where my back was not hurting me all day. In fact, except for some stiffness this morning, my back was in fairly good shape. Now I know that my exercise routine will be mostly uninterrupted. This especially means that I can begin hitting the weights three days a week. I am going to be modifying my workout plan from the other day (Aug. 15th) in that I will be working with weights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and doing aerobic exercises on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Because of the affect of exercise on my blood glucose level, I think that I need to exercise every day, even if it is just walking for 20 minutes on my “off” day. Too bad there are no vacation days from the diabetes – I surely would like it. I do not think I will be losing weight as “fast” any more – it will probably slow down now that I will be gaining muscle mass. Muscle uses more glucose than fat cells, therefore, it takes it out of the blood creating a lower blood glucose level.
