Drinking Coffee Can Lower the Risk of Getting Type II Diabetes
Monday, July 10, 2006 I read an interesting article today about the effects of drinking coffee and the onset of Type II diabetes in women. [See Drinking Coffee Can Help Lower the Risk for Type 2 Diabetes in Women on Diabetes.org - or see the original, more comprehensive article at DiabetesJournal.org by clicking here.]. This also holds true for men in another study (click here for article). I am not, nor have I ever been a coffee drinker. I never really acquired the taste for it, except for the Häagen-Dazs or Ben and Jerry's coffee ice creams - they are so sweet, it almost tastes like chocolate. [The good old days]. Maybe if I drank coffee I would not have Diabetes before turning 40. I could still drink coffee on this diet, but what is coffee without all of that sugar mixed in? If you have been keeping up with the journal and was wondering about the glucose meter, no, I have not used it yet. I have already slotted out time to do it tomorrow. I also get to see the Nutritionist tomorrow as well - I hope the time spent going to see her is worth it.
